Preliminary Exercise 17 : Film Production and Post Production

Welcome back to my blog, were on preliminary exercise 17 today!! Today we shot videos using story boards. Storyboarding is a technique used in the film world for the use of brainstorming ideas. It's important to consider this stage because it allows the ideas and plans for the film to already be set and organized. The objective for this assignment was to take what we already knew about editing and create scenarios to put in our videos. Practice recording and taking those certain shots. The editing techniques we used for this assignment were establishing shots, shot/reverse shots, jump cut, and cross cutting. The objective of this assignment was to create a storyboard using different editing techniques of our choice and film the videos. The first part of the assignment contained me and my teammates brainstorming which techniques we were going to use then draw out our shots on the storyboard, after that me and one other of my teammates filmed the videos. One editing technique is the establishing shot, a director would use this shot to do the opening shot of a film, while introducing the area of where the film is going to be taken place. To give a little background. This assignment took one class to finish, well the first half. We drew out all our ideas and shots the first class, and in study hall of the next day we recorded them.

Each member of my team contributed. We all brainstormed ideas for our layout on the storyboard, each thinking of a shot and how we would use it. And also, how we'd bring that shot to life. There's four people in my team including myself. Richard S, Skye T, and Danielle M. After we thought of the ideas and planned which is something we all did, me and Richard drew them out and then he recorded. We used our phones and the school laptops for our technology use and paper for the writing. I'd say after this I'm an expert and really learned more about the importance of storyboarding.
